RPM Chicagoland announces the return of the RPM Mini-Kit!

At many previous RPMs, Sunshine Models offered a grab bag mini-kit with a paid event registration. They created resin parts to add to an existing plastic model and transform the model to reflect a prototype freight car. Attendees were encouraged to bring back their in-progress or completed models to display at the following year’s event!

To kick off RPM Chicagoland, we have coordinated a special Mini-Kit for attendees. Resin Car Works, Fox Valley Models, Speedwitch Media, and Accurail have provided parts to provide an even more complete Mini-Kit Plus! With these parts, you’ll be able to convert the provided Fox Valley Model’s B&O Wagon Top boxcar kit into a B&O M-15k rebuild. These cars were distinctive for their exposed side sills and predated the later M-53 and M-53A newly constructed cars. Some 1200+ M-15k’s were built, making them roughly 1 in 4 of every wagon top boxcar on the rails. The Resin Car Works Blog will soon feature a more extensive history of these cars, and a clinic about the cars and how to construct the Mini-Kit is planned for the event.

Some resin parts for the end beam, a new Accurail fishbelly underframe, and Ted Cullotta’s well researched decals will provide an opportunity to add an interesting car to your freight car fleet.

Also, for the first time, the kit will be offered in both HO and N scales, your preference is noted at time of registration!

Register now for RPM Chicagoland so you can be sure to make the list to receive this limited run Mini-Kit as a registered attendee. RPM Chicagoland is October 20-22 in Lisle, IL. Registration is now open and a list of presenters can be reviewed on our website.
