RPM Naperville/Chicagoland features two prototype based modular railroads on display throughout the weekend. Both groups let modelers bring DCC equipment to run on the layouts and are a highlight of the show.
Midwest Mod-U-Trak 2
The second version of the memorable Midwest Mod-U-Trak layout, MMuT2 is an HO scale layout featuring IL scenes of the Santa Fe, C&WI, and more. With a focus on typical prototype scenes, lots of Midwestern equipment looks right at home on the layout. N Scale Modutrak
Inspired by the HO group, an ambitious group of N scalers set out to match the typical Midwestern theme in a smaller scale. The layout features many prototype locations on the Milwaukee Road and Chicago and North Western in IL and WI. Another award winning layout -including the coveted Craftsman Trophy from Railroad Model Craftsman Magazine in 2010- long trains get lost in wide open scenes, and really show off the prototype atmosphere.
